Sharon - Question #1 "What is the greatest lesson you've learned from Sharon?"

I think the greatest lesson I've learned from my mom is how to be patient. She probably doesn't think she's very patient, but for a woman with nine kids and no murder sprees, she's incredibly patient. I've learned how to calm myself down and remove myself from the situation if I get too heated.
Also I learned how to cook from her! Thank goodness for her patience when I experimented and made heavy bread when I didn't let the yeast dissolve and ruined a soup because I didn't know what simmer meant.
-Becca

The greatest lesson I ever learned from mom was how to problem solve. Seriously, I got my limited engineering skills entirely from mom. In elementary and jr high school, I don't know if she knew how to do the math problem or not, but she would use this process of looking back in the chapter for parallel examples and going from there. It doesn't work all the time, but instead of just getting stuck and asking the teacher the next day in class, I learned to try and attempt the problem by doing the research and learning on my own.

That it's okay to feel the way I feel with my depression and I wasn't alone. Sharing my feelings and realizing she felt the same way (especially having to change depression meds so often) was life changing for me when I was diagnosed. Also, hearing her stories about what she went through and is still going through has helped me a lot. Learning to live chemically well- especially because of my depression- was also a great lesson to learn from her.
-Amy

How to work really hard. Weeding was one of the ways she taught this to us was through a family favorite activity: weeding. She would always say "It's time to start weeding!" and keep cracking the whip until it was done. That shows she works hard!
-Jonathan

How to listen. I'll always remember her staying up late until I came home from wherever I was on Friday or Saturday nights, willing to hear how my night went and listen about anything that was going on in general. For whatever reason, I was much more willing to talk about stuff after 11 p.m., and she helped me get through some of the tougher situations I was in as a teenager. I like to think I can do the same thing for my kids, even if today they just want someone to listen to them about Dora or stubbing their toe.
-Brandon

Shane says nice to everyone I was thinking the same almost.... love everyone without asking or questioning or judging.
-Andra

How to love others and anticipate their needs without judgement and without giving off a feeling of martyrdom. Not that I think I've learned to apply this very well in my own life, but that Sharon is and always has been such an amazing example of this.
-Mandi

This might not seem very important, but I have learned how to let go of things without feeling guilty from her. When life is too crazy you can just say no, or your house doesn't have to be spotless every second, or you weed out those very unnecessary things on your to do list. And when someone needs you to listen to them or help them mom is really good at dropping those unnecessary things on her to do list to be there for them. She has helped me realize those relationships are really what matter in the end.
-Brooke

I've learned to show love no matter what, without judgement or prejudice. I can't say I'm really good at it but Mom is a really good example of this, as everyone above has already stated.
-Matt

Patience
-Micah

Love. She is the most loving people I know and she truly loves everyone. Even with complete strangers, after talking to them for only a minute or two, she makes them feel loved and like they are her new BFF!
-Dave

A couple years ago Sharon and I were talking and she said something during our conversation that I think about all the time! was telling her about the situation and said something like, "sometimes I feel like I can't do it". She then explained that there are a lot of things we can't do without the help of our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I can't tell you how many times I have thought of this!
