Eric - Question #3

What qualities does Eric possess that makes him a good dad?

  1. He is so FUN to be around! Always loves to play and wrestle and enjoy being with kids. Also supports me as the mom by giving me time to myself every weekend, so I can be a better mom the rest of the week. Loves to explain how things work and do projects with the kids. Is a great spiritual leader in family prayer, scripture study, and answering spiritual questions to the best of his ability when they are voiced. Such a great dad, they are so blessed to have him!

  2. I told Eric one time that I didn't know how he did it- working all day and then coming home and playing with his kids as attentively as he does. He told me it was because his kids invigorated him- that was the favorite part of his day. He said he couldn't imagine living a life where he didn't want to come home to his kids- and I can't imagine one for him, either. You can tell from the way he interacts with them that he loves them and wants to help them understand the Gospel at any level they're capable.

  3. His love for toys (see: the helicopter he got for Christmas) ensures his kids will have great things to play with and a dad who will join them at the drop of a hat.

  4. I still don't get what that saying means.

On a more related note, Eric is always ready to have fun, but he can also be serious when needed. Children need parents who have fun but can take charge of a situation, and Eric does both very well!

  5. He is VERY fun! And patient. I agree, he's good at explaining things--gospel principles as well as just how the world works.

  6. Eric loves Brooke and his children and they know that he loves them. That is his greatest quality as a Dad.

  7. He's very curious and always learning, so it makes him a great companion for kids because he loves life as much as they do.
Also he has the sense of humor of a five year old, so there's that too. ;)

  8. He is very charismatic and that helps him to really connect with his children and get along with them. But also I don't think there's an adult/child barrier between the two parties because Eric does a good job of seeing life from their perspective and in turn knows how to have lots of fun with them.

  9. As has already been stated, Eric is a very fun dad. However, he has a serious, reflective side, which is important for a responsible dad to have.

Happy Birthday Eric! Hope you have a great one!

  11. I have never thought Eric should be allowed to be responsible for the raising of little children. Fortunately he's married to Brooke.

  12. Eric shares a curiosity and sense of fun that will energize his children. He possesses a profound understanding and appreciation of the gospel and atonement of Jesus Christ. He loves unconditionally. He corrects with kindness. He married a perfect eternal companion that complements his strengths and weaknesses.

  13. Cause he has a mind just like a child...quizzical, energetic and exploratory. He loves to see how things work and what happens to certain things in different situations and will be willing to try it out and see the outcome no matter what it is.

  14. I have noticed (through observation and conversations) that Eric is intentional with his parenting, meaning he has a goal and a purpose behind what he does as a dad, rather than accidentally doing things. Hope I am explaining myself in a way that makes sense!

  15. His Y chromosome, and everything else built into his DNA.

  16. Ha ha, Allen is hilarious. I think Eric is basically a giant kid himself so that is useful in understanding and building great relationships with his kids. His curiosity and desire to find new things and experiences and his desires for sensory exploration which make him fun for kids to hang out with. All those things are extra balanced out by Brooke who makes sure there is an "adult" voice in raising the kids!
