Just talking late at night growing up. He's such a loyal empathetic person, an incredible listener and always has interesting and fun things he's been thinking about. Love you Brandon!
One time I was real upset when I was a crazy hormonal teenager I called him to talk about a problem but he was at a conference or something and didn't answer, but then he called back and we talked for a really long time and he gave me some excellent advice. And the time when he was dating Mandi and we would talk about that and he wouldn't believe me when I said they'd get married.
One really fun memory that I have of Brandon was when he took me and Becca to see Mandi in My Fair Lady. She stayed that whole summer doing that play in Boise, and he drove almost 400 miles almost every weekend to see her. The weekend that he took us was awesome because we jammed out to awesome music in his car, got to stay up late, and ate good food. He is always up for an adventure.
It was fun sharing a room with him growing up. I was probably 5 or 6 when he moved downstairs to get his own room. We also shared a room for a little bit right after his mission. It was fun talking to him at night and hanging out.
One last memory from me. I had a really fun time when we he, Mandi, Brooke, Eric, Amy, and I all drove to California together. Touring Alcatraz was a blast... getting a flat tire before we even hit St. George... staying at the L.A. temple and being the only one to do baptisms for the dead... Yup, it was a pretty awesome trip. Happy Birthday Brandon! Hope you have a wonderful day :)
When we started getting along right before he left on his mission- late night Wendy's and 7-11 Slurpee runs, talking late into the night and just generally enjoying each other's company for the first time since...ever, really. Now we watch Mystery Science Theater and BYU football games and his hilarious kids. Here's to many good times to come! *clink*
Yep, too many good memories to single out just one. Here are a few that stand out:
When he was born and his eyes were bugging out and I thought he looked like ET. (We had just seen the movie the night before...).
When he was learning how to read (which took him about 5 minutes) and he was so serious as he sounded out the words in his cute glasses that made him look like a little genius.
Riding his bike around and around the pole in the basement of our house in Massachusetts.
Asking me why I couldn't just stitch up his arm (But you're a nurse) after he ran through the glass storm door in Massachusetts.
Late night talks when he was a teenager.
Watching him interact with his wife and children and being a truly wonderful husband and father.
There are so many. One of my favorite is when he was young, he loved jumping on the tramp all year round. I have many great memories of going with him to BYU games. He's such a passionate, true blue, BYU fan. It was especially fun when BYU would beat Utah (yes folks, that has actually happened). Another favorite memory was when he rocked the ACT with a 33. And finally, like Mom, the great memories of him with his wonderful wife and kids.
One more memory: I will never forget that beautiful October fall day when Brandon was born. Appropriately enough, the Cougars were playing football that day and Mom and I watched the game until labor got more intense and she kindly suggested I turn the game off. (Which of course, I immediately did.) And I will never forget the feeling of love I felt after you were born and the doctor handed you to me and I held you in my arms. It was overwhelming. I felt the Spirit so strongly. It was as if you brought some of that special spirit from the pre-mortal life with you to us. I was so grateful to be a father and was, and still am, so grateful you are part of our family. I will never forget that day or that amazing experience.
I think that my favorite memory of Brandon was when he graduated from college with a sore back. During the after party, he layed on his back the entire time!
I can't pinpoint one memory in particular but I genuinely enjoy his company and just talking to him about anything really. He's a good listener and it's always fun to hear the stories he has of when he was growing up and was going to high school. I get the vibe that he genuinely looks out for all of his siblings and loves us and is always more than willing to help us out. :)
One of my favorite memories of Brandon is going over to his house for sleepovers, NCAA football throwdowns on the Xbox, midnight premiers of the Avengers and Batman, and NBA playoff parties. And I guess BYU football games were pretty fun too. :) Selamat hari ulang tahun Bran! I hope this year is an especially good one.

ReplyDeleteJonathan took mine! But my other favorite memory of him was when we went to the Wingers in Idaho and the older boys had a wings eating contest!

ReplyDeleteRoad trip we took with Summer 2004. Oh and going to Krispy Kreme at 2am when they opened. Good times!
ReplyDeleteThe night that Matt proposed we went out to dinner with Brandon and Mandi in Idaho Falls.
